His Story
“My nonprofit was sparked when I was passing out backpacks filled with supplies with a club at my school, and we were unable to provide everyone with a backpack. When a man who was homeless asked me if we had an extra backpack and we replied that we had unfortunately run out, I saw the despondent look in his eyes that signaled our failure in serving his pressing needs. It was at that moment that I knew I needed to make a difference however best I could. With the initial help and support of the GivingPoint Social Innovators Academy, I founded Soul Supplies, where I hope to ease the burden of homelessness and never run out of backpacks, as well as leverage the resources at our disposal and relationships with community partners to support our homeless neighbors in exiting homelessness. We have received tremendous support, and I am incredibly appreciative of everyone who has assisted us and is following us along this journey. This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to continue to raise awareness of the drastic issue of homelessness and serve the unhoused community in Atlanta and beyond.”
